Betsy is a pit bull who grew up in a hellish environment. As a young pup, she was loving and gentle. Unfortunately, that is not what her owner is looking for. She was bred and raised by a vicious dog-fighting group, and they wanted a violent dog.
Because she was too timid, she refused to fight and often ran from other dogs. As a result, she became a bait dog. All the other Pit Bulls trained on her, and Betsy sustained numerous injuries. This happened over and over again.
By the time the authorities finally saved her, Betsy was on the brink of death.
Scared
The injured pit bull was rushed to an emergency clinic and given immediate treatment. Although the vets closed all her wounds, placed IV fluids, and gave her medication, they were unsure if the pooch would survive and recover. But she did, slowly.
Betsy grew healthier and stronger as the weeks passed. She progressed nicely, but it was apparent her fear of dogs and people would take longer to get rid of. She was not aggressive, but she would shiver and cower whenever anyone came near her.
As the days came, Betsy’s true nature started to come out. She became more open to the people around her, but the shelter workers noticed she was still reserved.
At peace
A family eventually learned about Betsy and wanted to adopt her. They were told about her past and want to help the canine have a good life. Because Betsy was showing signs of trust already, the shelter staff allowed her to go to her new forever home.
Once there, Betsy felt how it was to have a family of her own. She is now staying in a house surrounded by people who were always there for her, especially the family’s young boy.
The kid adored the sweet and timid dog and often gave Betsy hugs. This finally allowed the pit bull to open up and fully trust again. The two became inseparable.
Betsy is now living the safe and peaceful life she has always wanted.
