Coco, a Welsh Corgi, is truly a smart dog. He sits, stays, and lies down at his dad’s command. But sometimes, he tends to be a not-so-good dog at all. He thinks he rules the entire household and he does whatever he likes even when his mom and dad tell him not to do it.
For instance, when his mom starts doing the laundry, he guards the laundry basket with all his might. He stays beside it and refuses to let his mom take it. He even snarls when she attempts to take it by force.
The 1-year-old dog isn’t food-possessive, but when he sees his mom cooking stew, he waits until she puts the casserole down. As soon as she does, he sits beside it and claims it as his own. He defends it from her and anyone else who tries to take it.
Whether it’s the casserole, the laundry basket, the trash bin, her mom’s purse, or the broom, Coco thinks it’s his and his alone. And when someone forcefully takes it away from him, he becomes aggressive. He attacks and bites.
Everyone in his family has suffered a nasty bite from him. So to finally put a stop to his stubbornness, Director Lee Chan-Jong, ESAC Pet Training Center’s director and lead animal trainer and handler, offered his help.
Director Lee and his crew came to visit Coco in his home. They watched him for a short while and determined that he wasn’t trying to devour the things around his house. Rather, he acted savagely because he was unyielding. He failed to acknowledge that his mom and dad are the leader of the pack and not him.
Coco defied his human parents’ presence and acted like he was the ruler in the house. It happened because he was put in obedience training that went wrong. As a consequence, he ended up being rebellious.
With repetitive actions and proper training, Coco soon learned to be more obedient. He realized that while he remains to be the most beloved member of the family, he still needs to follow their lead.
