When Olena Pyanov, lead rescuer and co-founder of the animal rescue Love Furry Friends, received news that a puppy was found in the ruins of an old house, she wasted no second. She immediately decided to change the puppy’s life and rushed to the said property.
The yard was fenced-in and the rescuer could not fathom how the puppy made its way inside. Befuddled, she circled around the house and spotted a small gap on the fence at the back. That’s how the puppy entered the lawn, she realized, and that’s how she also got inside the courtyard.
The house was big and it was divided into several rooms, so Olena knew it would be difficult to find the puppy. But that wasn’t enough reason for her to back out. She went ahead and scoured every inch of the house until she found what she was looking for.
The puppy lay on top of the rubbish in one of the rooms. She was at peace until she realized someone else was there. She was so terrified and she tried to escape and run away. But when she figured out she had no way out, she cowered in a corner and tried to bury her face in the wall.
Olena opened a can of puppy food in an attempt to gain the puppy’s trust. But the pup’s fears were stronger than its hunger. It refused to interact with the rescuer did not even look at her.
After some time, Olena managed to get the puppy into a travel crate. At last, it was safe, so she carried it to her car, took it to the vet, and named it Masha.
Masha’s past remained unknown but it was probably so traumatic for her to become so fearful. But with the help of her rescue friend and an animal behavior expert, she slowly conquered her fears. She worked hard for several months until she was finally ready to face the world.
Today, Masha spends her time making up for all the days she missed when she was a puppy. She plays, makes new friends, and goes on an adventure when she can. She lives a great life with Olena but she remains hopeful that, one day, she’ll find her forever home.
