Senior citizens who struggle to take care of their beloved dogs are one of the less-often talked about topics in today’s society.
Most seniors live on a fixed monthly pension. And with the rising cost of medication, housing, and health insurance, it cannot be denied that their lives are getting harder every day. But despite their situation, it is comforting to know that they did not choose to abandon their pets. The seniors are still doing everything they can to give their dogs the care, love, and affection they deserve.
However, with the elders’ meager resources, their desire to take care of their beloved canines is challenging. That is why a non-profit organization called Senior Petcare Lifecare Alliance Program was established in Columbus, Ohio, to deal with this specific problem.
The organization believes that the seniors’ dedication not to neglect their dogs is genuinely commendable. That is why it has established initiatives to help senior citizens in taking care of their pets. The program does this by providing senior citizens with free pet food and free vet care with the help of the Ohio State School of Veterinary Medicine.
The Senior Petcare Lifecare Alliance Program’s initiatives are undoubtedly a big help for seniors. This is true especially for those who can’t afford to provide their dogs with decent meals, especially vet checkups and medications.
Maria True is one of the seniors who was helped by the program. She shared that before the program came into existence, she had to share her meager meal with her dog every single day. And while she was more than willing to do this, it pains Maria to see that her dog cannot have the decent meals she deserves. That is why Maria is so grateful for the program because it helped take care of her beloved dog.
Fortunately, seniors outside Ohio can also benefit from this kind of dog assistance. Similar programs have also been established in various places like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Central Texas, and Illinois, Chicago.
