Abby was an extremely matted stray who wouldn’t let anyone come near her. Joie, the woman who used to feed Abby, said that the dog wouldn’t let anyone touch her, including Joie.
Hope For Paws, a not-for-profit rescue, received a picture of an extremely matted homeless dog from Joie. Three seasoned rescuers immediately drove for two and a half hours to Mobile Home Park. They spotted Abby from a distance but did not directly approach. A rescuer came a bit closer to give Abby some food. She found out that Abby prefers the cheeseburger over the Vegan burger that was specially prepared for Abby by Mitch Weiss.
As soon as the rescuer was able to close the distance with Abby,
she immediately took her chance to grab the dog. Everyone in the neighborhood who knew Abby felt happy that she was finally rescued off the streets.
While searching Abby for wounds or physical issues, rescuers decided to cut some of the matted furs that were blocking Abby’s vision. Finally, Abby was able to properly see her rescuers and the people who have taken cared of her for so long.
At the center, they shaved off all of the dog’s fur. After an hour or so, rescuers finally removed all the heavy burden of hair that Abby had been carrying for years.
Abby also made some new friends at the center. The rescuers who got her off the streets became her foster parents. Abby was spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and had gone for surgery for her Inguinal Hernia. The following day, Eldad, Abby’s foster dad, had to leave the country, so she was left with her foster mom, Loreta.
With the help of another dog named Bonny, Abby learned how amazing it was to be a dog and to be loved. Abby is now looking forward to more amazing discoveries, experiences, and a loving family.
