People love to watch K9 dogs run through agility courses. But nobody expected to see a dog wearing goggles to run through the same course. How will this cool-looking dog fare against other competitive K9s?
Simon is the first to run through the final course of that particular evening. He is handled by Officer Michael Garber, and they have been working together for 3 years. How fast can they run through the course?
Simon gave a speedy performance for the first two parts of the course. He made a huge leap to bring down a heavy door. Then he went through a web of bungee cords like they weren’t there.
Everything else seemed easy for Simon until he came near the last part. He needed to grab a ball attached to a rope and use it to pull the door. He didn’t understand what to do, so the handler had to delay by a minute so they can pass.
After Team Simon, there was Team Rony. Deputy Brad Larsen is handling Rony, and he had the dog wear some protection goggles. Rony wears it during work to protect his eyes and also to look cool.
Team Rony is from Utah, so they are used to fighting through brush during missions. However, they took a while to get through the web of bungee cords. Rony was also slower when passing through the ductwork tunnels.
Just like Simon, Rony was confused with what to do with the ball. However, unlike him, Rony was able to open it after a while. One more door to open, and Rony found himself in the last part of the course.
All that was left to do is bite through a suit and return to the finish line. The officer had to shout a few commands to catch the dog’s attention. In the end, Team Rony won by 12 seconds.
