Workers of a local shelter in Inglewood, California noticed an unusual surprise waiting outside the facility’s doors one afternoon. An odd-looking 2-month-old puppy sat by the front door. It had the coat and coloring of a German Shepherd, but the eyes of a Husky.
He was adorable and did not appear to be ill, so the shelter employees had no idea why someone would dump him. Given that he was discovered outside the shelter, it was reasonable to believe that whoever left him there did not like him. Regardless of the reason, it no longer mattered. The first concern was that he was safe.
Brad and Haley, who were newly engaged at the time, moved in together. They agreed that they could finally get a dog now that they had their own house.
When they reached out to the local rescue centers, they learned of the abandoned puppy at the local shelter. As soon as they saw the photograph of the dog, they fell in love. At that moment, they knew that it was the puppy that they wanted to adopt. They brought it home two days later and named it Mackey.
Everyone would agree, based on Mackey’s appearance, that he is a Shepherd-Husky mix, yet his Husky side seems to be more dominant due to his gregarious nature. He growls constantly, and as he ages, he becomes increasingly vocal.
However, his parents were unaware that he was more than a combination of a shepherd and a husky. When he underwent a DNA test, the results stunned everyone. He also has the blood and DNA of a Chow Chow, a Malamute, a Pitbull, and a Rottweiler.
Since Mackey’s adoption, Haley has spent most of her time at home. She rarely leaves him, and he enjoys her constant presence.
Brad and Haley included Mackey in their engagement pictures, and they plan to include him in their wedding as well. He is family, and they could not be married without him.
