If you are a resident in Berry or Nowra, Australia, you might be interested in participating in helping guide dog puppies. The Guide Dogs NSW/ACT requests people to step forward if they want to become one of the puppy raising program volunteers. There are approximately 30 puppies who need training. They need a loving family and a home for a year.
Guide dogs are hugely in demand, especially in Australia. The country has a huge aging population, and guide dogs are needed so the elderly and those who have disabilities can receive additional assistance.
According to Matt Walker, the office team manager of Guide Dogs NSW/ACT, they want to expand the puppy raising program. They also want the locals to have the chance to participate in this valuable program.
The program aims to help more people, especially those who suffer from sight loss. To do that, they need additional support to care and foster puppies who can become guide dogs. They only need a foster home and family for 12 months.

Puppies who need fostering are usually around eight weeks to 14 months old. Volunteers only need to give them lots of love and some basic training which will help them strengthen their sense of sight, hearing, and smell.
Puppy raisers should have a yard with a fence and should not leave home for over four hours daily. They should also have a car or any means of transportation so they can attend seminars and training. They also need to prepare for scheduled veterinary checkups, information sessions, and puppy pre-school.
Ms. Hayter said that they would give the raisers all the puppy needs, such as food, medical care as well as flea and tick treatments and prevention. They will also have a Puppy Development Advisor on standby in Wollongong to help guide the puppy raisers.
If you want to apply, you can send your applications directly to Guide Dogs NSW/ACT in Berry and Nowra as well as in Wollongong and Kiama.
