Older dogs can often have a tougher time finding permanent homes than puppies. Dogs who have spent a long time in shelters are sometimes untrusting of humans and can be difficult to transition to home life. Recently, an older pit bull named Bonita was finally adopted after spending 500 days in a shelter.
In the summer of 2018, a four-year-old pit bull mix named Bonita was brought to the Niagra SPCA in New York. After spending over a year in the shelter, no one had adopted her. Staff members were sad she wasn’t finding a home. Bonita is a tender-hearted, fun dog who loves taking walks, playing ball, and cuddling.
The staff at Niagra SPCA were overjoyed when Bonita was finally adopted last week. The shelter shared with their Facebook followers that the pit bull had found a home in time for Christmas. A family had come into the shelter and inquired which dog had lived there the longest. They met Bonita and adopted her that day.
The Niagra SPCA staff were so excited for Bonita; they threw her a big going away party. The party was finished with the staff members throwing confetti as Bonita walked out of the shelter with her new owners. The pit bull was jumping for joy, giving each staff member a goodbye as she walked to the car.
Bonita’s new owner, Ray Kinz, shared some heartwarming pictures of Bonita enjoying her new life. Ray thanked the Niagra SPCA for looking after the pit bull and said she is very happy in her new home. Ray has also set up an Instagram account for Bonita so he can share all the fun things the pit bull is doing now. Merry Christmas to Ray and his adorable new pet, Bonita. We hope this story brought some happiness to your holiday season.
