Alissa Childs is an animal lover who has always wanted to have a pig as a pet. She was held back because her home didn’t have much space that would allow her to have such an animal. Besides, she already owned four small dogs. Taking care of a pig, a large creature that requires a fair amount of outdoor space, was out of the question.
But then, Alissa and her husband Nick were able to move to a farm in Sydney, Australia. When they finally got settled down, she started the process of choosing the right pig for her. The very first pig she met was Olive, and she took her in almost immediately.
A new mom
The Childs’ family was getting bigger. Just before Olive was adopted, Alissa learned that she was pregnant with her first child. But it didn’t matter, they had enough love to share with everyone.
The couple’s biggest concern is how their dogs would react to the little pig. Especially their French Bulldog, Lola. She is the oldest of their small pack and the most domineering. The other pups were laidback and were rarely confrontational.
But to their surprise, Lola welcomed Olive eagerly. The two even became best friends. The small pig followed the dog everywhere, and Lola acted as her surrogate mother. They are often joined by the other dogs when they go out and play.
As Olive started growing she began adapting the behavior of her pack. She would join them on walks, wearing her own collar and leash. When someone is at the gate, she would rush out and greet them just like the other dogs.
Happy pig
As an avid photographer, Alissa makes sure that this amazing dynamic is captured by her lenses. She really loves to dress up her pets and take their photos. She then shares them on her social media page. Looking at those photos, you can be certain that Olive is happy, and she is right where she needs to be.
