As dog owners, we can all definitely agree that dogs make the best companions when going on a road trip. They keep you entertained and they’re also really enthusiastic about the different places they get to visit. If you haven’t tried going on a road trip with your dog before, you should probably give it a try. You’ll find that they make great travel buddies.
When a man named Michael Fiala decided to go on a road trip around the US including Alaska, he started the long adventure with his dog, Sox, in mind. Michael decided to do the entire road trip on his motorcycle and even trained Sox to ride at the back. Soon after Sox got the hang of riding in a motorcycle, Michael decided to start their epic road trip.
It’s been ten years since Michael and Sox started their road trip together. Sox was a lot older but he still loved going on adventures with his dad. Sox loves the motorcycle and whenever he wanted to go on a ride with Michael, he would always jump on the motorcycle to tell Michael that he wants to go out for a ride.
Of course, Michael is always up for it and would take Sox on a ride whenever he wants. However, as Sox got older, it became increasingly difficult for him to ride at the back of the motorcycle. Michael also noticed that Sox had a lump on his neck. Eventually, after a trip to the vet, they discovered that Sox had two different types of cancer.
Sox ended up getting surgery to remove a total of six tumors from his body. It was difficult for Sox to do anything during the recovery period after his surgery. Sox was used to going on hikes, motorcycle rides, and other adventures and he was quite sad when he wasn’t able to do the things he loved doing.
Thankfully, Sox recovered and was soon ready to go on adventures again with Michael. Michael wanted Sox to be safer and more comfortable during their motorcycle rides so he decided to install a sidecar on his motorbike. This way, Sox can still enjoy riding the motorcycle. Here’s a heartwarming video showing Michael and Sox going on their motorcycle adventures.
