One typical Sunday in March, Jose Guzman decided to visit his parents. He took his fiancé, Adriana Lopez, and their three girls for some family bonding time. While enjoying the time with his parents, Jose got word of a fire burning in his neighborhood.
Jose and his brood left their house an hour before the news of the fire hit, so he felt sure of the safety of his house. But to be sure, they decided to go home and check. Jose and Adriana took their kids and drove back immediately.
When the family arrived home, they discovered some distressing news. The fire started in their neighbor’s house, but the fire continued to burn steadily towards their house. Low water pressure from the hoses prevented the firefighters from putting out the flames. They got no choice but to wait for help from nearby fire stations in the area.
While taking in the bad news, Jose’s mind immediately thought of Gabanna, his dog. The burning house still trapped Jose’s four-legged friend. With his family already safe and secure, Jose’s thoughts turned to the rescue of his pet. Against the firefighters’ protests, he ran inside the house and tried to look for Gabanna.
Jose ran inside the house and started calling for the dog. He found Gabanna inside the bathroom, patiently waiting for his master’s command. According to Jose, he had a bit of trouble getting Gabanna’s leash unhooked, and it took a while before man and dog could run out towards the driveway.
Everyone outside sighed with relief when they saw Jose run out of the house right after Gabanna. The landlord’s son-in-law captured the heroic rescue on video. After the video of Jose and Gabanna came out, people praised Jose for his loyalty to his best friend.
Although Jose and the dog suffered some burns and scrapes, their bond remains as strong as ever.
