Alex Sirbu, the founder of Asociația Animal Safe-Guard, the only animal rescue organization in Moinesti, Modarzau, and Zemes in Romania, received reports of an abandoned dog that required immediate attention. People who called said they spotted someone who came to the area with a dog and left with none. Others claimed hearing cries of distress inside the industrial yard.
Without hesitations, Alex sprang into action and responded. He took note of the given address and went there as fast as he could. Once he made it on site, he immediately realized it was a perfect place to abandon a dog because there weren’t too many residential houses nearby nor a lot of vehicles that pass by.
The petroleum mine was literally in the middle of nowhere so there was no doubt the dog had to wait for days before his rescue. He endured rain and cold for the past few days. But despite it all, he was so happy and grateful when finally, help came.
The dog wanted to say hi to his rescuer but he couldn’t stand up. He probably had an injured spine so instead, he wagged his tail at him and gave him a sweet smile. He stayed still as he carried him in his arms and loaded him at the back of his car.
From the industrial yard, Alex brought the dog, he later on named Nico, to his shelter. He gave him food, water, and a warm place where he could rest. And like the first time they met, the grateful dog thanked him by wagging his tail and showing him his adorable smile.
The next day, Nico left the shelter and continued to the vet’s office. He spent quite some time at the clinic, where he received the utmost care and treatment. And within about a week, he felt much better already.
Nico had a very old injury that affected his brain and spine, leaving him unable to walk or even stand. But because of his love of life and strong will to live, a miracle happened. He recovered and was able to walk again.
Gaining back his mobility was great progress, but this dog received an even bigger blessing. While he recovered at the hospital, Alex took the time to search for an adoptive family. And once Nico was discharged, he continued to his new forever home.
