Zoey is a lucky pooch who lives in a huge property in Nashville. The frisky Husky absolutely adores exploring their backyard and the woods nearby. Sometimes, the dog would encounter small creatures and would chase them around. Not that she wanted them to go away, but she merely loved playing with them.
One day a fawn was wandering inside their property. Zoey’s owner, a professional musician named Pat Pollifrone, brought the wild animal back to the woods as he believed they should be kept in their habitat. But the next day, the young deer was back again.
New friend
Pat noticed the fawn, which he named Bambi, had several superficial injuries, and one of her eyes had an infection caused by ticks. So he got her some water to drink and then treated her wounds and infection. Zoey saw what was happening and welcomed their guest. The dog kept going around the small animal and gave her lots of kisses.
Fearing that the fawn’s mom would be looking for Bambi, Pat returned her to the woods. And sure enough, the next day, she was back. Zoey was delighted when she saw her new friend. They played a bit, but most of their time was spent cuddling each other.
Zoey was like a protective mother and would always give her hugs.
Looking for help
Pat was getting worried because it seemed the fawn was not getting any bigger and lacked energy. It was likely she was living on her own. As he knew nothing about caring for a baby deer, he sought help. Sadly though, none of the rescue organizations he reached were equipped with the knowledge or facilities to take in the young creature.
For several days, he researched everything he could about caring for fawns. The musician tried his best to give the young animal everything she needed. Zoey was always there to help out and offer comfort. Thankfully, all their efforts worked, and Bambi grew stronger and healthier.
Zoey and Bambi developed a bond, but it was time for the fawn to move on to a better life. Pat got hold of a ranch that was willing to care for her. The two animals would definitely miss each other, but they had to do what was best for Bambi.
