It is the first question a person should ask themself – am I ready to take care of a pet dog? Taking in a pet dog is indeed like being a parent. It will demand time, patience, and money, but you get some tender, loving care that will always be felt, even when we ignore our pup.
Unfortunately, for Pika, a French Bulldog, her parents did not follow through when they said “yes” when they asked themselves this very question. Pika was found by the police in a hole covered by a wooden plank in the backyard of a chop shop being investigated in Los Angeles.
Pika was covered in dirt and hairless during the time she was rescued. The police officers were puzzled about what they were looking at and did not instantly recognize that it was a French bulldog. Pika has developed a mange and had ear and eye infections due to all the grime wrapped around her body. The police department brought her to the Riverside County Animal Services for treatment.
After her treatment and rehabilitation, Pika was brought to Luvable Dog Rescue, a non-profit organization devoted to finding homes for rescued dogs. Liesl Wilhardt, the director of Luvable Dog Rescue, welcomed Pika in with open arms, and she has finally found a new home.
She even found new siblings that she can play with! Liesl has even claimed that since Pika arrived, she has shown warmth and love to her siblings and appeared to be the new leader of their little furry family.
It is a heartwarming story of how Pika was given a second chance at life, from being underground in the dark, covered in dirt, and on the verge of death to finding a new home at Luvable Dog Rescue.
