One lazy afternoon the local firefighters of North Charleston, South Carolina, received a report from bikers about a puppy crying under a pile of rocks. The concerned riders heard the scared animal and decided to call the emergency hotline immediately to save him.
In a video shared into Facebook by N.C.F.D., we could see Captain Bryant of Engine 201 pulling the puppy out of a hole beneath the pile of rocks.
It wasn’t an easy task since the puppy reacted by going deeper into the hole as an unfamiliar face tries to pull him out. Captain Bryant motivated the puppy by calmly speaking to him and cheering the dog up until he successfully pulled the puppy out of the pile of rocks. The puppy slowly trusted his rescuers after they displayed much care and patience when he showed reluctance initially.
The helpful firefighter immediately checked the puppy for any injury or chippings after being stuck. We could also see in the video that the terrified puppy tried to go back to the hole again after getting out — good thing he was held carefully by the firefighters while hushing him like a kid.
North Charleston Fire Department also posted a picture on their Facebook page to show the successful rescue and also to show how cute the puppy is.
In the meantime, the puppy stays with the family who called 911 for help. There’s been no official report yet about the sweet pup’s permanent home as their first concern is to check for injury.
The post received a lot of comments and suggestions from dog lovers even asking the North Charleston Fire Department if they could adopt the rescued puppy since no one claimed him yet. Others suggested that he become the fire department’s official mascot or say the official “Fire-dog” of the department.
