Dog breeders make a living by selling the puppies that their breeding dog produces. However, there are times when some of the puppies are born with a disease or a genetic condition that they can never be sold. Responsible dog breeders would often surrender these puppies to animal rescue organizations hoping that they would find a forever home.
In New Zealand, a dog named Dottie was surrendered by her breeder to the New Zealand Chihuahua Rescue Center, which is run by a woman named Casey Walters. As soon as Casey and her partner saw Dottie, they both fell in love with her.
Dottie is a spunky little puppy who had a huge personality despite her small size. The couple thought that Casey would soon grow up. However, she never did and stayed quite small. Dottie was eventually taken to the veterinarian to get checked and that’s when she was diagnosed with dwarfism to the surprise of Casey and her partner.
However, nothing changed for Dottie after her diagnosis. She was still spunky as ever and loved playing with the other dogs. She doesn’t care about her size and would get into playfights with bigger dogs, Casey even found herself an adoptive mother in her new home who was named Pepper.
After a few years, Casey found out that Dottie’s biological mother was going to be retired from breeding. She and her partner didn’t even have to think twice. They decided to adopt Dottie’s mom and reunite her with one of her offspring.
Aside from dwarfism, Dottie is also facing other health challenges. However, she remains a happy dog that charms everyone she meets. Dottie is one lucky puppy who found the perfect forever home right after she was born. Despite her health conditions, she lives a peaceful and happy life with a family that adores her. Here’s a video featuring Dottie’s heartwarming story.
