A police dog earned praises for his incredible sense of smell. His human colleague was looking for the last of three suspects when the pooch sniffed out the criminal’s hiding place.
Police officers were notified one evening of a fight happening on the streets of Wallsend in northeastern England. According to eyewitnesses, the people involved in the brawl were brandishing knives, and they had a corrosive chemical with them as well.
Police constable Adam Fegan and his canine companion, a five-year-old Dutch Herder named Max, arrived at the scene of the fight on Durham Street. They proceeded to a nearby building where the offenders were reported to be lurking.
Once Constable Fegan and Max entered the front room of the house, they quickly found and arrested two of the suspects. There was one more, however, and they didn’t know where he was.
So once the first two criminals had been secured, Constable Fegan and Max checked every room of the building to look for the third man. After a few minutes of searching the entire house, Max detected his scent; the suspect was hiding under a bed.
Constable Fegan remarks that it made him feel better to have the trusty Dutch Shepherd by his side at this assignment. The offenders were armed and aggressive, but Max is the kind of dog who will make anybody think twice about attacking.
The police constable has nothing but praises for his canine partner, who’s extremely good at what he does. Detaining the individuals involved in the altercation on Durham Street wasn’t their first task that night.
Before arriving there, Constable Fegan and Max had already helped out at an incident involving a dangerous canine. The two also assisted authorities in catching fraudsters who had allegedly stolen toll money using a refund card.
No wonder Constable Fegan was immensely proud of the Dutch Shepherd. Of course, Max got a well-deserved treat once their shift was over.
