Recently, the Sheriff’s Office of San Joaquin County received a phone call informing them of a stray dog. According to the report, the dog was dropped off on a rural property just outside Stockton, California and the caller also noted that the dog looked old and unwell so the office responded quickly. Animal Service Officer (ASO) Brandon Levin went into the scene to retrieve the dog.
After retrieving the dog, ASO Levin immediately scanned the dog for a microchip to see if she was an actual stray or she belonged to anyone. As it turned out, she did belong to someone and her name was Zoey. According to her microchip record, Zoey went missing over a decade ago in Lafayette, California and she was actually listed by the microchip company as deceased a few years back since she had been missing for so long.
Though a decade has already passed, the sheriff’s office still tried if they could get in contact with Zoey’s listed owner named Michelle. And it was just probably a stroke of luck for Zoey because her fur parents had kept the same phone number through the years. The office was able to get in touch with them and inform them that they finally found Zoey.
They met with Zoey’s owner Michelle in Rio Vista and the two were finally reunited. Aside from that, Michelle also has another dog, a 13-year-old friendly Lab who Michelle would love to introduce to Zoey.
As the story went, Michelle got her at the pound when she was just six months old with her twin sister. Fast forward to six months later, Michelle went to the store for about 20 minutes to buy some things but when she got back Zoey was no longer there. But though it took a long time before Zoey was finally found, Michelle was definitely thankful to have her again.
