Things don’t always go as planned when adopting a rescue dog from an animal shelter. Many of us assume that once someone adopts a dog from an animal shelter, it’s the end of it and the dog will have a happy forever home. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case for every dog. Some of these dogs are returned to animal shelters.
A dog named Ronald knows all too well what it’s like to be returned to the animal shelter. Before finding his forever home, he was returned 14 times by the different people who adopted him. Despite being rejected multiple times, he’s still a happy, energetic dog who’s misunderstood.
Ronald is a big dog who has a lot of energy. His high energy is likely the reason why people kept returning him. His energy levels may have been a lot of work and were too much to handle.
The staff and volunteers for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Wake County felt sorry for Ronald. However, this didn’t discourage them from helping him find the perfect forever home. They even used social media to help him find the right family.
The shelter staff and volunteers hoped their social media posts will encourage people to apply for Ronald’s adoption. They listed everything good and bad about Ronald. They were honest about the reasons why he was constantly being returned but they also highlighted his high energy levels and intelligence as the perfect traits for someone who wants to train a dog.
Thankfully, their plea for help for Ronald was answered. A woman named Kiersten Davis saw the social media post and knew that she could give Ronald the home he needed, Surprisingly, despite the post being shared multiple times, Kiersten was the only applicant.
Kiersten was informed that she was first on the list and immediately drove out to get Ronald. She was excited to take him home and let her children and her other rescue dog meet the newest member of the family.
Ronald turned out to be the perfect addition to Kiersten’s family. Ronald is now enjoying his new life in his new forever home. He no longer has to worry about being returned to the shelter. Here’s a video showing how Ronald finally found his happy ending.
