Firefighters are unsung heroes that deserve more praise. Some people may think that firefighters just lounge around when there aren’t any fires to put out, but they are always on their toes, as they can be called upon to help in emergencies not involving fire. Firefighters are trained to do rescues in different kinds of situations. They also have various equipment to help them handle any emergency they may face.
In Hastings, Florida, a 6-month-old pup named Fifi became another soul that was saved by these heroes. In case you were wondering, Fifi’s home wasn’t on fire. But rather she was stuck in a cinder block and needed help to get out. She put her tiny head inside the hollow space, but then, she couldn’t wiggle out of it.
Fifi cried out for help, and when her family saw her situation, they called for emergency services right away. At first, the county sheriff’s deputies dropped by to try and help rescue the poor pup. They used some soap and water for lubrication, hoping to pull Fifi out of the cinder block.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t very effective. It seemed that the pup’s head perfectly fit the hole on the block, making it difficult to pull her out. The deputies then had to call for the local firefighters to help them with the situation. After a few minutes, Fifi’s saviors have arrived.
The brave men and women of St. Johns County Fire Rescue Station 8 have arrived, and they were well-equipped to deal with the problem. They used the “jaws of life” — a hydraulic tool that cuts through almost any material, freeing people or animals who are stuck.
Sure enough, Fifi was freed after several minutes! The tool cut through the cinder block like a hot knife through butter. Fifi and her family were relieved, and they vowed to keep the cinder blocks away from the pooch. After that ordeal, we don’t think Fifi will require a lot of convincing not to touch another cinder block or anything that resembles it for the rest of her life.
