Zach Skow from Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue dedicated his life to helping abandoned dogs get a second shot at life. When he saw Jade, a Pitbull that had a lot of wounds and burns, he knew he had to help.
Meeting Jade
When Zach first met Jade, he was surprised to see that Jade wasn’t afraid of humans or human touch. Despite being injured, Jade accepted the love she was getting which was a sign that she wasn’t traumatized by her past.
Zach took Jade to the vet to get her physically examined. Though her recovery would be long, the doctors were optimistic when they saw how Jade reacted to the medication.
The vet then bandaged Jade’s wound and advised Zach that it would be best for Jade to stay in the clinic for close monitoring. Zach was worried about Jade but he knew that the dog had a better chance of recovery if he left her at the clinic.
Journey to recovery
After spending several days at the clinic, Jade was finally discharged. Zach and a team of volunteers from the shelter all went together to pick Jade up.
Susan, one of the volunteers, immediately fell in love with Jade’s personality so she insisted that she would foster her. Susan was one of the shelter’s foster partners, so Zach knew that Jade would be in safe hands.
Susan was surprised when she brought Jade back home. Jade was easy to work with despite her traumatic past and she instantly took on the role of a mother to the younger foster pups.
Every other day, Jade’s bandages had to be replaced. Susan saw how Jade’s wound slowly healed which gave her hope for a full recovery.
After a few months, Jade’s wounds all fully healed. Susan realized that Jade was ready to go to her forever home yet the thought of it saddened her. Susan then decided to adopt Jade since she got along with all the other foster dogs.
