Gina is a Boxer mix that initially led a horrific life. Her owners chained her in their backyard, and she was often subjected to brutal beatings. The gentle dog was never allowed inside her owner’s home and was constantly exposed to the harsh weather.
Tragically, when she had a litter, her puppies drowned in the mud. They were close to her when it happened, but she couldn’t save them because of her chain. She mourned her loss and cried heavily every night. That and her brutal abuse broke the hearts of their neighbors.
Rescued
As they could see that Gina was severely neglected and maltreated, the nearby residents reported the matter to the authorities. But sadly, it took three years before the police finally came to take the dog away. But even though it took quite a while, the neighbors were relieved to see that the large pooch was finally getting a chance to have a good life.
Because she was a loving and affectionate dog, despite her traumatic past, it didn’t take much time until Gina found her new forever home. There, she finally felt what it was like to be loved and have a true family.
Paying it forward
One day, while Gina and her new mom were out for their regular walk, the dog suddenly noticed a cat and her litter living near a dumpster. The large dog pulled on her leash and led her owner to the homeless animals. The kind woman didn’t hesitate to take the whole family home with them.
Gina and the cat, who was named Lucy, became fast friends. The dog would even help look after the cat’s babies. The patient dog acted like a surrogate parent and would even allow the kittens to climb all over her body.
Once the kittens were bigger and more independent, they were put up for adoption. As for Lucy, she stayed with Gina and their loving mom.
