A California-based non-profit rescue organization, Hope for Paws, received a call one day about a Chihuahua. The medium-sized dog was abandoned in a small neighborhood, and she has been living in the streets for about a week already.
The caller, a resident in the neighborhood, said the Chihuahua was elusive. He tried to catch the pooch to give her a safe place to stay, but she would always run away when he got too near. So he just kept on leaving food for the homeless dog.
The kind man hoped the rescue group could get her and find her a better life.
Cheeseburger
After receiving the call, Hope for Paws sent their two most experienced rescuers, JoAnn Wiltz and Katie McKittrick. The two ladies rushed to the area, only stopping for a while to buy a cheeseburger.
Knowing that the dog was a flight risk, they wanted something to gain her trust. Based on their experience, a cheeseburger is great at enticing canines.
Sure enough, once they showed it to the Chihuahua, she couldn’t ignore the delicious offering. JoAnn threw pieces of the cheeseburger in front of the pooch, and she delightfully gobbled every morsel. Katie then placed a soft snare near the dog and eventually caught her.
The concerned resident eventually went out and thanked the women for their efforts. He also said that he named the dog Frijoles.
Happy Chihuahua
Frijoles was taken to an animal clinic, where she was checked by a vet and given a good cleaning. With the love and care she received, she eventually learned to trust her rescuers. She stated showing her playful character, and this led to her adoption.
Her new family doted on her from day one, and this made the dog very happy. In the video below, Frijoles could be seen cheerfully frolicking in her new home, loving the life she has now.
