For over eight years, Officer Paul Shaw of Jacksonville, Florida, had a dog he named Hemingway. The pit bull gained the trust of Shaw to police their house. In these years, the dog remained loyal to his human no matter what the occasion was.
A tragedy, though, happened to Hemingway. The dog got terrified when a burglar broke into their home. The reason why Hemingway felt that way is that the man had a gun with him. While the dog may not understand what a gun is, Hemingway might know that the weapon is a dangerous thing.
During the home robbery, Hemingway had to flee their home in fear of getting killed by the burglar. When Shaw arrived home, he was shocked by what he saw. But what made him heartbroken was the fact that he could not find Hemingway inside the house.
When Shaw arrived, his home looked like a total mess after the bad man ransacked and took expensive things. Shaw likewise felt very anxious, especially that he saw some drops of blood when he arrived home.
After realizing that Hemingway was nowhere to be found, Shaw decided to look for the pooch. He went house to house to ask his neighbors whether or not they saw the cute pooch. Shaw did not give up on his pooch.
It was only after a few weeks that Shaw received good news about Hemingway. According to the person on the phone, he found the dog wandering outside his home. When he was sure that the pooch had no one near him, the guy decided to take the pooch. Good thing, the office granted Shaw’s application for leave. The reunion between Hemingway and Shaw will be the first in many years. Shaw never expected this day to come, but he is happy about the development.
