Have you ever made your dogs jealous? I remember when we had our pet Maltese. He always considered my partner to be the “Master” of the house but he goes to me when he wants love and affection. One particular day, he was feeling playful and is eager for us to get outside, however, my 3-year-old was showing me a picture of a house she drew and of course, I showered her with praise and kisses. Our pet must have felt sidetracked as he began to wheedle his way between my daughter and me. It was so funny so I gave him a hug, too!
So I searched the internet if dogs really feel some sort of jealousy when I stumbled upon the video below. The dog’s owner was petting a plushie, but it looked awfully like a Golden Retriever, and it sat next to his real dog! The Golden was looking at him and lay down the same way as the toy, hoping to receive the same affection. The owner did — for about two seconds — then went back to petting the fake stuffed dog.
When the owner was away, the furious pet began gnawing and thrashing the stuffed animal. Poor toy!
Another dog with a similar stuffed animal next to him couldn’t contain his resentment. He started snarling and baring his teeth when his owner even attempted to touch the plushie.
Even Daddy Huskies feel jealous toward their sons. When an owner was sleeping next to a Husky puppy, his dad began pulling him, and the sleepy pup tumbled from the sofa! The dad took his rightful place next to his owner and even placed a protective paw over his arm as if telling his son to back off!
