A puppy in South Dakota was abandoned on a rarely-used gravel road, and it was more than likely that he wouldn’t have survived on his own. He was really just a few weeks old then and still needed his mother to nurse him. Fortunately, a mail carrier decided to take a detour while she was on her route and found the small pup.
The postwoman carefully picked up the shivering puppy and placed him inside a plastic box usually used for packages. For the rest of the day, she took the young dog along with her. After she made all her deliveries, the mail carrier made her last stop, the local shelter.
Priority
Thanks to the care of the shelter workers, the adorable puppy regained his strength and vigor in just a few days. But he didn’t stay there for long. A foster-based nonprofit animal rescue group called Ruff Start Rescue took the pup and brought him to Minnesota. A foster mom was already waiting when they arrived.
Because of the way he was rescued, the young pooch was named Priority. He was just around seven pounds when he joined his foster home, but he quickly added on some weight as the days passed. The little pooch also didn’t have any problems fitting in with the other foster dogs under the care of his temporary mom.
A great future ahead
As soon as Priority was big enough to find his own forever family, Ruff Start Rescue shared his story and photos on their social media accounts. The staff was confident he would find a home in no time at all. The pup was so charming, and his cute bunny-like ears stood out.
They were right. A few days after their post was published, they found a woman who completely fell in love with him. And it seemed that Priority felt the same way.
When the little dog met his new mom, he showed a lot of enthusiasm. He now lives in a home with a huge yard where he can run and play all day. All thanks to a kind mail carrier who took a different route one day.
