Officer Paul Shaw of Jacksonville, Florida has owned a dog named Hemingway for over eight years. Shaw trusted the pit bull to protect their home.
However, Hemingway had to face something untoward one day. A burglar broke into their house, and the dog became scared because the man was armed. While the dog may not really understand what a gun is and what it can do, Hemingway may have sensed that it was dangerous.
During the home invasion, Hemingway was forced to run for fear of being hurt or injured by the intruder. The dog may have felt that it was the best course of action in that situation.
When Shaw returned home, he was stunned by what he discovered. His home was in shambles and he had been robbed. But what crushed his heart was he was unable to find Hemingway inside the house.
After the thief plundered and stole valuable items from Shaw’s home, he left it a complete mess. Shaw also felt anxious and sad, especially after spotting blood when he returned home.
When Shaw realized that Hemingway was nowhere to be found, he decided to search for the dog. He went door-to-door asking his neighbors if they had seen the adorable dog. Shaw was not giving up on finding his precious pet.
After a few weeks, Shaw finally heard positive news regarding Hemingway. According to a gentleman who called him, he discovered the dog roaming outside of his residence. When he was certain that no one was nearby, the guy decided to take the dog and secure it.
Fortunately, Shaw’s request for leave was approved by his office so that he could be reunited with the dog that he missed a lot. Shaw never thought that this day would arrive, but he was pleased with the outcome.
