One afternoon at a local shelter in Inglewood, California, workers discovered a very odd surprise waiting for them outside. By the main door sat a 2-month-old puppy that looked eccentric. It had the fur and color of a German Shepherd but its eyes resembled that of a Husky’s.
He was cute and he didn’t seem sick so the shelter workers had no idea why someone would abandon him. He was found outside the shelter, after all, so it was safe to assume that whoever left him there didn’t like him. But whatever the reason was no longer mattered. The more important thing was that he was safe.
Around that time, a newly-engaged couple, Brad and Haley, moved in together. And now that they had their own place, they agreed they could finally adopt a dog. They reached out to the local rescue centers in town and that’s when they learned about the puppy that was abandoned at a shelter.
The moment they saw the puppy’s picture, they were smitten. They knew at that moment that it was the puppy they wanted to adopt. Two days later, they brought it home and named it Mackey.
Considering Mackey’s physical appearance, anyone would agree that he’s a Shepherd-Husky mix, although his Husky side seems more dominant because he likes to talk a lot. He howls all the time and he gets more vocal as he gets older.
Little did his parents know, however, that he wasn’t simply a mix of a shepherd and a husky, but more. When he had his DNA test done, the result astounded everyone. Because as it turned out, he also had the blood and genes of a Chow Chow, a Malamute, a Pitbull, and a Rottweiller.
Since adopting Mackey, Haley has spent most of her time at home. She rarely leaves him and he’s happy to always have her around.
Rob and Haley included Mackey in their engagement photos and they intend to make him part of their wedding, too. He is family and there’s no way they’d tie the knot without him.
