While some dogs get easily adopted, there are some that wait for a very long time. And there are many reasons for it. Perhaps, some think that the breed that’s been put up for adoption is quite aggressive; thus, the dog will have difficulty finding a new loving family.
Drools is evidently one of those dogs. This four-year-old male Pitbull/boxer mix has been living at a shelter in the state of Colorado for almost two years. This length of stay is quite a long time for rescue dogs.
Drools the patient pooch
Drools, a neutered pooch, has been living at Conour Animal Shelter for almost two years, patiently awaiting someone to take him home. This is according to Kacey Widetich, an employee of a rescue organization called Relay for Rescue.
Kacey says that she has even started staying at the shelter to keep Drools company while the organization is working on finding the perfect family for him. Kacey tells a local TV station, which covers Drools’ story, that the struggle could be attributed to the location of the shelter.
Another reason is the fact that the caretakers are quite particular about the type of home that will welcome Drools. The dog needs to have a home where he will be the only pet — no other dogs nor cats for that matter.
He’ll find a home for sure
According to a local news outlet that has covered Drools’ story at the shelter, the pup knows basic training and commands. He is also updated on his vaccinations. While cautious at first, Drools is actually good with kids and adults.
On top of that, Drools has a moderate level of energy and activity. He thoroughly loves to cuddle with people and be touched or petted by humans. Such an attribute will help the new owners build a connection with Drools. Playing with him should not be that hard, too.
With all these qualities, Drools can definitely find a loving home soon!
